A brand new container is a shipping container from the current year that has made only one trip—called a half-trip—from its factory in Asia to Puerto Rico. This half-trip does not affect its condition because the container was never used to transport cargo by sea; it is simply the initial transfer from the factory to our lot in Puerto Rico.
Used
Used containers are classified by condition categories, based on their aesthetic state: level of corrosion and visible damage. Unlike brand new containers, these were actually used for their original purpose—transporting goods by sea—so their year of manufacture varies, for example, between 2008 and 2014.
