Just like our 20-foot containers, brand new 40-foot containers are current-year and have made only one trip — the move from the factory in Asia to Puerto Rico, known as a half-trip. This trip doesn't affect its condition, since the container was never used to transport cargo by sea before arriving at our lot.
Used
Used 40-foot containers are also classified by condition category based on appearance — level of corrosion and visible wear — just like the 20-foot ones. The difference is that these were actually used for their original purpose, transporting cargo by sea, so their manufacture year varies — for example, between 2008 and 2014.
